As expected, Samsung has officially announced their next generation Note flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note III. Featuring a smiliar yet slightly redesigned body to last year’s Note II, the Galaxy Note III is the first mainstream Galaxy phone to run Android 4.3 natively. It also features a new, more powerful S Pen, an interesting new “warm design” made possible by a leather padded back, improved multitasking capabilities.

On the software side, we’re being treated to some pretty cool new enhancements to TouchWiz, all of which seem to be oriented around making the devie more useful while using the S Pen. Hover the S Pen over the Note III and you’ll activate the new “Air Command” feature, which opens up a circle overlay with some useful actions contextual to your application and content. Samsung claims it’s all about “all about capturing and organizing content in one place”, an interesting tagline for the functionality. S Finder is Samsung’s new search utility which allows you to search through not only all the usual aspects of your smartphone, but also all your handwritten notes as well; useful considering how much Samsung seems to be pushing the S Pen this time around.

The Samsung Galaxy Note III carries an absolutely massive 5.7″ display and warm leather backs, the Galaxy Note III comes in a huge selection of vibrant colors, including White, Black, and Pink – the three color variations which will apparently be available at launch. Samsung has yet to announce specifics as to the internals of the device, however we’ll let you know as soon as we know more on that front.
