When one of your company’s key executives admits that he doesn’t like the Galaxy Gear, that’s usually pretty bad news. Such is the case for Samsung today as an anonymous Samsung executive gave the following quote to a prominent Korean media outlet, Korea Times (translated to English for your reading pleasure):
“We’ve acknowledged that our Gear lacks something special. With more investment for user interface and user experience, Samsung devices will be better in terms of customer satisfaction.”
To say that reception of the Galaxy Gear, which is Samsung’s flagship smartwatch product as of now, has been lukewarm would be somewhat of an understatement. The device was oft rumored before its introduction, however a lack of ecosystem, reports of underpowered hardware, questions about the effectiveness of a “traditional” smartphone screen on a device has lowered interest in the product considerably.
